Hellenic Home for the Aged Inc. is a Not for Profit organization that provides exceptional care and services to seniors of Long Term Care and independent living. The Home offers over 225 independent living seniors’ apartments in two separate locations as well as Long Term Care facilities.
The organization operates 24-7 with a staff that exceeds 300 active employees.
Up until 2017, Hellenic Home processed the payroll using two of the most popular on-line Payroll Processing companies in Canada. Despite investing hundreds of hours and significant dollars to set up the system, the On-Line Providers were unable to fully automate the payroll properly. The setup is complex, and they could not meet all the requirements.
- Vacation Accruals were complicated and had to be adjusted every year
- Following every bi-weekly payroll, the accounting department had to manually update spreadsheets that were very time consuming, before manually entering it into their Accounting software
- There are both unionized and non-unionized employees, which adds a significant complication to the Payroll
We replaced the payroll with in-house software, QLab PayDirt Payroll Pro.
We received outstanding technical assistance while setting up the payroll, making use of complicated formulas and logic in the setup.
The Payroll is imported following each Run into the Accounting system.
PayDirt has a very strong integration to Sage, Adagio and other Accounting systems. We are fully integrated to the Bank Rec and the G/L, including proper allocation and distributions across all the appropriate Depts.

Since implementing PayDirt, Hellenic Home has since automated Timecard entry with importing the data, they have switched from printing Advices to emailing and automatic Direct Deposit.
And, whereas fees just to process the on-line Payroll Processing companies exceeded $35,000 annually, the comparable fee this year is under $2,000 for the annual software renewals.
